How it all started
In May of 2023 Bob Wikstrom and musician buddy Brian Wentz decided to form a band in PebbleCreek (Goodyear, AZ) to perform at area dances and events. They went on a search for players to make up an eight piece 60s, 70s, 80s funky, r&b, dance and show band. After seven months of recruiting and rehearsing it was time to put “The Big Dogs” out there for the folks.
Our story
Every great journey begins with a story. Ours is no different. Established in May of 2023, we embarked on a mission to provide a high-energy dance oriented band for the people of the West Valley of the Phoenix area. It took several months to come up with players that fit a musical genre that we felt there was a void in our community. So, one at a time we grew into what we decided to call “The Big Dogs”. After rehearsing for five months putting a show together The ‘Dogs played their first dance in The Ballroom at PebbleCreek on November 4, 2023.
Our Players
Eight members make up The Big Dogs including a horn section consisting of Mike Perkins on tenor, alto and baritone saxophone, Blair Nuccio on trumpet, Jeff Buda and Dale Feldick on tenor and baritone sax. Then the rhythm section of Doug Harris on drums, Jim Ledford on bass, Brian Wentz on lead guitar and vocals and Bob Wikstrom on the Hammond B3 organ, keyboards and vocals.
